Driving lessons are available in my Bristol driving school for

Learning to drive,
Passing the driving test,
Pass plus course which could help you to get cheaper car insurance,
Motorway driving lessons after you have passed the driving test,
Refresher driving lessons for those who hold a full driving licence but need some driving lessons to help their confidence.

The driving instructor is very patient and experienced, has a high pass rate, and will treat you with utmost courtesy.

Nervous and older pupils are especially welcome.

Learning to drive

Driving lessons in Bristol for provisional driving licence holders of any age providing they hold a valid driving licence (full, or provisional). You may learn to drive at 16 if you qualify for mobility help, otherwise the lower age for learning to drive a car on public roads in the UK is 17.

Driving lesson prices are competitive and there are some special offers. Driving lessons with my school can be taken from your home, school, college, or work place. There are no additional charges provided the address is within our normal area. Please see the list of areas covered in the box on each page. A one hour driving lesson will be at least an hour, usually a bit longer.

The Peugeot 207 Verve 1.4 diesel five speed manual car which I use is non-smoking vehicle.

Each driving lesson is given individually. You will not have to share the car with another pupil, either at the start of the driving lesson or at the end. Of course if you want a parent or partner to be present during your driving lesson, especially if they intend to give you practice, then that is OK with the driving instructor.

Theory Test

An important part of the learning to drive process is preparation for the Theory and Hazard perception test. As well as preparing for the tests, you are gaining valuable knowledge about driving safely and should learn to drive more easily and need fewer driving lessons. In Bristol the Theory test centre is easily found in Broadmead.

Show me  Tell Me

At the start of the driving test the driving examiner will ask you to open the bonnet of the car and then ask you some questions about vehicle maintenance. You will be asked to point to several items. Windscreen washer reservoir, engine coolant, engine oil, brake fluid reservoir. Then you will be asked a few more when you are sitting in the car.

The questions are shown below.

VEHICLE SAFETY CHECK QUESTIONS Cat B From 1st July 08

1. Open the bonnet, identify where you would check the engine oil level and tell me how you would check that the engine has sufficient oil.

Answer: Identify dipstick / oil level indicator, describe check of oil level against the minimum/maximum markers.

Pass plus course

The Pass Plus driving course is available once you have passed the driving test.

Originally the Pass plus course had two purposes, to encourage drivers to take further training after the driving test and in return, as an incentive, the insurance companies would give a discount on the first years car insurance (often as much as 15%).

Motorway lessons

Learner drivers are not allowed to drive on motorways. So until the law is changed you have to pass the driving test before receiving training.

Motorway driving is part of the Pass plus course. You can take the motorway part of the course on its own if you do not need the Pass Plus course.

Refresher lessons

Perhaps you learned to drive and passed the driving test some years ago and have not driven much since. Refresher driving lessons could give you the confidence to drive again.
